Sibelius Software is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy sets out our privacy practices and tells you how we will treat your personal information. By using any of our products or services, or providing us with information about you, you unconditionally agree to be bound by this privacy policy, which may change from time to time. We are registered under the Data Protection Act.

Information about you

When you contact us or register software with us, we may request or record information such as your name, address and musical interests. This is used to:

  • Process your orders, or send you information you asked for
  • Find out what kinds of people use or are interested in our software
  • Verify your identity so you can get technical help, upgrades, special offers, etc.
  • Contact you by post or email about technical help, upgrades, and occasionally other products and services which we think will be of interest to you.

We will not give personal information about you to anyone else without your permission, except for the following:

  • We may share it with other Sibelius companies or with your country’s distributor, so they can do any of the above (e.g. provide you with technical help) on our behalf
  • If you have another manufacturer's product which we distribute (e.g. PhotoScore, Musition or Auralia), we may share your information with the manufacturer, so they can provide you with upgrades etc.
  • If required to do so to prevent fraud, piracy, etc.

Occasionally we may ask your permission to share information with another company, e.g. as a condition of entering a competition.

We may transfer your information to countries outside the European Economic Area, which may have different data protection laws. If so, we will take steps to ensure that your privacy continues to be protected.

Our web sites

Our web sites automatically log your IP address and domain name, and non-personal information such as the type of web browser you use, to help us administer the sites and to compile statistics such as the number of visitors.
